Nascida no Alentejo e sediada no Porto, onde se formou em arquitectura.

Numa abordagem tão criativa quanto etnográfica utiliza o filme, a animação e o desenho para contar histórias sobre comunidade, identidade e tradição.

Realizou a curta-metragem de animação documental - Comezainas, com apoio do ICA com estreia no IndieLisboa 2022, exibida internacional, tendo ganhou o prémio de Melhor Animação no Ymotion, e Melhor Poster de Cinema no Mdoc.

A par dos trabalhos visuais, é também autora de artigos de carácter antropológico, e co-fundadora da Alento onde colecciona e desenha estórias em torno da comida.

Mafalda Salgueiro (Alentejo, Portugal) is based in Porto.

Trained in architecture, she approaches documentary and ethnography using film, animation and drawing. Her goal is to tell stories about community, identity and tradition.

She premiered Comezainas (Nosh-up), a short animation documentary at IndieLisboa in 2022.  A short film with the support of the ICA and exhibited internationally, and awarded The Best Animation at Ymotion, and for Best Movie Poster at Mdoc.

Alongside her visual practice, she is also the author of anthropological articles and the co-founder of Alento, where she collects and draws stories around food.
